Why do you define the scanning depth to be 8.5cm?

To cover most of population. Subcutaneous tissues of obese patients may be as thick as 4cm. We define the scanning depth to be 8.5cm in order to meet the sampling requirement of liver tissue (i.e. 4cm area).
